LISTOWEL – “Irish” Jake O’Reilly defeated the Canadian Heavyweight Champion “Saturday Night Delight” Tyler Tirva by disqualification at the Paddyfest Piledriver on March 2.

A back and forth affair saw O’Reilly set Tirva up for his finishing move, the Piledriver, but Tirva’s manager Asher Benjamin interfered causing the ref to call for the bell at signal a DQ.

As Tirva bailed out of the ring, Benjamin continued to celebrate, which left him alone with O’Reilly, who extracted revenge by piledriving Benjamin in the middle of the ring.

Despite the loss, Tirva remains the champion as Rock Solid Wrestling bylaws state a belt can only change hands by a pinfall or submission.

In other action, former Canadian Heavyweight Champion Cody Deaner got back in the win column with a victory over Daddy Davis via the DDT.

In Tag Team action, the Notorious T.I.D. and Big Ben Ortmanns defeated Los Supremos as they prepare for the Tag Team Championship tournament on May 11.

Up-and-coming wrestler Mark Wheeler got a big win as he defeated the veteran El Tornado with a sunset flip.

Crowd favourite “Playboy” John Atlas defeated Anthony Darko with the super kick.

The event can be seen on Eastlink TV starting March 15.
